I propose that the so-called 'junk DNA' which comprises more than half of our DNA, has in it our ancestral memories, and abilities and survival instructions we may not be currently using.
I also propose that in the epigenetics that control the expression of our DNA, is ancient and recent programming for our survival and reproduction.
Some children are born with gifts, such as in mathwmatics, that are so extraordinary they cannot be explained. Some adults after a trauma to the brain, suddenly have a new gift, often in art or music.
Insects so tiny we cannot see them, know how to exploit the circumstances into which they are born, and this changes to meet changes in their circumstances.
Many species use different complex behaviors necessary only to attract a mate.
The discrimination that female birds of Paradise have in the males' plumage, vocalizations and dance performance may be ancestral memory, refined by individual aesthetics. We see how different famales carefully evaluate the males according to their personal aesthetic criteria.
Perhaps people who seem to remember things from past lives, as is claimed for the reincarnation of Tibetan Lamas, are accessing an ancestral memory in our 'junk' DNA and our epigenetics.
We know that the changes in epigenetic programming are passed on through inheritance and then added to in life. Are there also additions to an ancestral memory?
